How's your Financial Confidence?

Our Latest Thoughts

Regardless of whether you think Artificial Intelligence will be the biggest technological revolution of all-time, the downfall of humanity, or somewhere in between the topic and participating stocks have sucked up all the oxygen in the stock market and financial media over the last 12-18 months. While there have been plenty of companies/stocks that have benefited from the AI hype, none compare to the meteoric rise of NVIDIA. Maker of the preeminent microchips that meet the enormous processing need and speed of AI technology, NVIDIA (NVDA) has grown from a market cap of $280B, to the fourth largest stock in the US with a $1.8T (👈TRILLION!!) market cap… in 16 months! WHOA!

In this week’s episode Chris & Jesse take a look at the current King of Stocks, NVIDIA in advance of their much anticipated earnings call, scheduled for Feb 21 after the market close. Additionally, the guys discuss Tuesday’s inflation print (CPI) that came in a bit hotter than expected, and close it out discussing who you should have been rooting for in the Super Bowl based on the coincident indicator of past years when either the 49ers or Chiefs have won (note: Coincident indicators are not predictive… just fun!).

Random Gleanings: 3 Phases of Market Recovery

May 26, 2022 2:56 pm

This week Chris introduces the idea of 3 Phases of a Market Sell-off and it's Recovery. The framework as proposed is Phase 1: Get Out of the Way, Phase 2: Get Your Buying List Ready, Phase 3: Birds are Singing Again . Watch/Listen the guys work through this framework and send your thoughts (info@proplanwealth.com) as to what phase we are in… Phase 1 still? or Phase 2? I think it's safe to say the Birds aren't Singing in the markets…. yet.

Earnings Season starts in earnest and June CPI is announced this week… what can we expect? What about when the Fed meets later in the month? Closing the episode, the fellas plant a seed of optimism in a challenging news cycle around the wise investment quote, "When it comes time to buy, you won't want to." Stay tuned, we'll be doing our best to keep you informed along the way!

YIELD CURVE just inverted last week! What does this mean!?

November 3, 2022 3:12 pm

Recorded on Halloween, the Random Gleanings tandem of Chris Beard & Jesse Hansford offer some thoughts on the "tricks and treats" of this current market environment.

Kicking off with the "treats" the guys talk through the reporting of decent Q3 earnings (so far, anyway), and seasonality being the best it gets in a four year presidential cycle.

Moving on to the "tricks" (or at least trick-y aspect) of the present economic set-up is a pretty strong suggestion that fed funds rate stays higher for longer than many may be bargaining for and a recognition that the alarm bell has officially rung on the "recession count-down clock" – an inversion of the 90 day / 10 year treasury yields.

Tune in for these topics along with supporting charts in this week's Random Gleanings. (Want a closer look at the charts? Email us at info@proplanwealth.com for a copy of our written version with charts included.)
